Two trucks burst into flames after a head-on collision on Saturday in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur. One truck driver is likely to be trapped inside one of the trucks. Efforts are underway to rescue him.
The incident took place on the National Highway 34 near Mandi, which comes under the Sumerpur police station area.

The fire is now said to have been brought under control. Circle Officer Rajesh Kamal said, “Two trucks caught fire after a head-on collision near Sumerpur Mandi. Rescue operation underway. Fire engines are present at the spot and the fire has been brought under control. One truck driver is likely to be trapped; operation underway to rescue him.”

In another incident in Uttar Pradesh, two people were killed and two other sustained injurie after their car collided with a truck loaded with cylinders in Barabanki on Saturday evening.
The accident took place near a school in Baddupur area when the four people were en route to Lucknow to get medicine.
Ram Pratap Tiwari (80) from Bahraich district, his son Chunau Tiwari, grandson Anand Bajpai and grandson’s friend Neeraj Bajpai were rushed to a hospital after authorities reached the spot upon receiving information, news agency PTI reported.
Tiwari and Bajpai died during the treatment, while the other two injured were referred to King George’s Medical University Trauma Centre in Lucknow.
Station House Officer (SHO) Manoj Kumar stated that the truck driver fled from the spot after the accident. Efforts are underway to nab him.
