Jharkhand CM-Designate Hemant Soren On Meeting Amit Shah, PM Modi

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren, who is set to take oath as the Chief Minister, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday.

Soren, whose party registered a thumping majority in the Jharkhand Assembly elections, is set to take oath as Chief Minister on November 28.

Ahead of the oath-taking on Thursday, Hemant Soren along with his wife Kalpana Soren arrived at the parliament to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

After meeting Shah, the Jharkhand CM-designate said, “There will be meetings (with Amit Shah) even in the days ahead… There are a lot of things. We have to form our government. We came here for blessings.” The JMM leader, however, refused to comment on whether Amit Shah or PM Modi would attend the swearing-in ceremony.

Soren and his wife Kalpana also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi after meeting Shah. Soren had resigned in front of Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar as Chief Minister to stake claim to form the government.

The Jharkhand Chief Minister-elect also met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge as well as former party chief Rahul Gandhi and invited them for his oath-taking. Soren later also met AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and his wife and invited them for his oath-taking on November 28.

Kharge also shared pictures of his meeting with Soren and his wife and said, Hearty congratulations to Hemant Soren and Kalpana Soren and all the colleagues of our alliance for this victory of the people.

In a stunning comeback, Soren’s JMM-led alliance on Saturday stormed to power in Jharkhand for a second consecutive term, winning 56 seats in the 81-member assembly, despite an all-out blitz by the BJP-led NDA, which managed only 24 seats.
