High Drama In Rajya Sabha As BJP Alleges Sonia Gandhi’s ‘George Soros Link’, Congress Calls It ‘Dark Fantasies’

Rajya Sabha proceedings were briefly adjourned after BJP alleged links between Congress MP Sonia Gandhi and Hungarian-American businessman George Soros. Before the House began the proceedings, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju appealed to all parties to remain “united” against “anti-India elements”. The government is always ready for a discussion,” he said.

The BJP raised the issue in Parliament but Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar refused the demand for any discussion on it.

“I have received 11 notices under Rule 267. I have decided not to admit them. Notices have been given to raise the issue of a rising threat to national security due to alleged nexus between a political party and some international organisations working against India,” Dhankar was quoted as saying by NDTV.

“The report is in the public domain and there are serious allegations in it. Whoever the leader is from whichever party. I don’t want to name them. This Soros works against India,” Rijiju said.

BJP’s Big Charge Against Sonia Gandhi

The BJP on Sunday alleged that Gandhi has links to an organisation financed by the George Soros Foundation which has backed the idea of Kashmir as an independent nation. The party claimed that Gandhi, as the co-president of the Forum of the Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific (FDL-AP) Foundation, is linked to an organisation financed by the George Soros Foundation.

“Notably, the FDL-AP Foundation has expressed their views that treat Kashmir as a separate entity,” the party said.

“This association between Sonia Gandhi and an organisation that has backed the idea of Kashmir as an independent nation expresses the influence of foreign entities on India’s internal affairs and the political impact of such connections,” it said.

Rejecting the BJP’s allegations, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram termed them “dark fantasies” that should be confined to the “dark web”. “People have dark, morbid fantasies and they can continue to have them, and there will be no credence given to all these conspiracy theories. We are always for the sovereignty and unity of India. We are patriots, we are nationalists and we are doing nothing that is against the integrity of India,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Leaders of some INDIA bloc parties on Monday protested inside the Parliament complex and raised slogans to demand a joint parliamentary probe into the Adani issue.

INDIA Leaders Protest Outside Parliament

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge along with MPs of other opposition parties stood outside the Makar Dwar of Parliament and raised slogans of “Modi, Adani ek hain” and “we want justice”.

The Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party and Aam Aadmi Party were not part of the protest. The BJP has been alleging that the INDIA bloc is disintegrating. However, Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav said “all is well” in the opposition bloc.

MPs of the Left, DMK, Shiv Sena (UBT), RJD and NCP were among those who raised slogans and demanded a discussion and a probe into the Adani Group.
