Bangladesh has officially requested the return of deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from India. Bangladesh Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury confirmed on Monday that a formal letter has been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate her extradition.
Speaking at an event at the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) headquarters in Pilkhana, Dhaka, Jahangir Alam stated, “A letter has already been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The process is underway for extradition”, Dhaka Tribune reported. He further elaborated that the procedure would be conducted under the existing prisoner exchange agreement between Bangladesh and India.
