Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee invited the ire of both the BJP and the Congress with her “blueprint” remark on Thursday. Notably, Mamata Banerjee had expressed her interest to lead the Opposition front — INDIA — against the BJP. However, she is at loggerheads with two key partners of the “united” Opposition bloc — the Congress and the Left — in her state.
BJP Says Mamata Blaming Her Own Officials
Soon after the remark, the BJP’s Bengal unit president Sukanta Majumdar said that Mamata was blaming her own administration for the Bangladeshi infiltration issue. “According to her, the incompetent District Magistrates (DMs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) under her administration are allowing foreign criminals to infiltrate the border to murder the elected representatives of her party,” he said.
Majumdar further said in an X post: “Until now, she used to hold the opposition responsible for such incidents. But why this sudden shift in Mamata Banerjee’s narrative? Is she trying to shield the misdeeds of her party’s looter, criminal representatives by making such claims?”

In another X post, Majumdar, who is also a Union minister, alleged: “Bangladesh-style attacks on Hindus are occurring in several parts of West Bengal. This time a group of miscreants attacked and looted Hindus without provocation at Babhania village in Lohapunji under Dalkhola Police Station in Uttar Dinajpur district.” “Is the incompetent Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee trying to establish Mohammad Yunus’s system of governance in West Bengal,” he asked.
Congress Says ‘CM Must Respect Security Forces’
The Congress, too, attacked Mamata, calling her “irresponsible”. Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said: “One may be from any party but the way allegations are being made against the BSF by a CM of a state, it is irresponsible of her… We should respect your security forces… Instead of respecting them, allegations are being made against them…”

What Did Mamata Banerjee Say About BSF?
CM Mamata Banerjee accused the Centre of using the Border Security Force to facilitate Bangladeshi infiltration into West Bengal. She said this was the Centre’s “blueprint” to destabilise the state.
“Goons are being sent across the border. They are infiltrating India to commit murders and return safely. We want peace to prevail there as well as here… This [infiltration] is the internal work of the BSF and the central government has a blueprint for this. If there was no blueprint of the central government then this would not have happened…”

She also acknowledged that various government plots have been encroached upon in Bengal.
Banerjee further accused certain officers of the state police force of colluding with the BSF to facilitate Bangladeshi infiltration.
