Noida News: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Minority Wing member Tabish Asgar has been arrested in Noida, Uttar Pradesh for allegedly posing as a Hindu man named Vishal Rana to marry a Hindu woman and later pressuring her to convert to Islam.
The complainant, a Hindu woman, filed a detailed police report at Sector 113 police station on 3 December 2024. She alleged that her interaction with Tabish began four years ago through Facebook, where he introduced himself as Vishal Rana, a Rajput from Amroha district. Their online connection evolved into personal meetings, culminating in their engagement on 20 December 2021. Tabish, accompanied by his brother—who posed as “Vasu Rana” but was later identified as Wasim—attended the engagement ceremony.
The couple tied the knot on 22 February 2023 in Ghaziabad through Hindu rituals, attended by the complainant’s family and relatives. Subsequently, Tabish proposed a court marriage, taking the woman to the Allahabad High Court, where she discovered his real identity as Tabish Asgar. Additionally, she learned that the person introduced as “Vasu Rana” was actually Tabish’s brother, Wasim.

Tabish Asgar Accused Of Forcing Wife To Convert To Islam, Attempting To Kill Her
The complainant accused Tabish of pressuring her to convert to Islam after revealing his true identity. She further alleged that he threatened her life when she resisted. In February 2024, the woman became pregnant, but Tabish allegedly forced her to undergo an abortion. Distressed, she returned to her parental home but was persuaded by Tabish to reunite with him.
In her complaint, the woman stated that after a few days of living peacefully, Tabish resumed pressuring her to convert to Islam. When she mentioned involving the police regarding the matter, Tabish fled, leaving her alone. The woman then filed a missing person’s report for Tabish with the Noida police. Within approximately 20 days, the police located him. Persuaded by Tabish’s repeated pleas, the woman relented and did not press charges against him. She also accused Tabish of deceiving her by creating documents under the guise of a love marriage, which were actually for a live-in relationship.
The complaint also detailed an alleged attempt on her life when Tabish took her to Ramnagar in Uttarakhand on 18 November 2024. There, he reportedly pushed her off a hill in an attempt to kill her, resulting in a physical altercation where the woman sustained injuries.
The woman demanded strict legal action against Tabish in her complaint. The Noida police have registered a case under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 313 (causing miscarriage without consent), 506 (criminal intimidation), and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act. Tabish has been arrested and is under investigation.
