The death of a 34-year-old techie who died by suicide after blaming his wife and in-laws has led to an outrage on social media. While the incident remained the top trend on Tuesday, reactions have also started coming in from political quarters.
BJP leader and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut condemned the incident calling it “fake feminism.” The BJP MP said that the entire country is in shock over the incident.
“The entire country is in shock. The video of the man is heartbreaking… Fake feminism is condemnable. People are making this a business to extort crores of rupees. This should not take place. There should be no such pressure on any person,” BJP MP Kangana Ranaut said.

She also said that there should be a body to look into such cases where men are victims. However, she added that the case of techie’s death was an exception and in a majority of the cases, it’s men who are at fault.
“Having said that, taking a wrong example, we should not overlook that many women are being oppressed every day. We cannot falsify that and in 99 per cent of marriage cases, it’s the men who are at fault. That’s why such mistakes also happen,” the BJP MP added.
The Bengaluru techie, Atul Subhash, died by suicide, leaving a 24-page note and an 80-minute video blaming his wife, her family, and a judge for his distress. Subhash alleged years of harassment by his wife and her family and added that they filed multiple cases against him.
A day after the suicide, the police on Tuesday said they have been booked for abetment of suicide. An FIR has been filed against 4 people, on the basis of a complaint by the victim’s brother Bikas Kumar at the Marathahalli police station in Bengaluru.
The FIR has been filed under section 108 (abetment of suicide) and section 3 (5) (establishes joint criminal liability when two or more people act with a common intention) of the BNS. The FIR has been registered against the techie’s wife Nikita Singhania, his mother-in-law Nisha Singhania, wife’s brother Anurag Singhania and his wife’s uncle Sushil Singhania.
