‘Dara’, ‘Raka’, ‘Gauri’ On Maha Kumbh Security Duty, Being Fed THIS Special Diet


Maha Kumbh 2025: The Uttar Pradesh government is leaving no stone unturned for the grand Maha Kumbh celebrations, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings that will commence in January. The state will deploy specially trained mounted police during the Maha Kumbh to manage the crowd.

These policemen on horses will patrol areas that are inaccessible to the regular police on foot. For this purpose, 130 horses, featuring a mix of Indian, American, and English breeds, and 166 police personnel have been deployed. As many as 35 staffers will take care of the horses, who have undergone special training to manage crowds effectively without causing harm to the devotees.

American, English Horses Deployed: What All They Eat In A Day?

American Warmblood and England’s Thoroughbred horses have been procured from the Army to complement the Indian-breed horses. These horses are being acclimatised to the Maha Kumbh terrain through regular morning and evening patrols, ensuring familiarity with the fair’s geographical conditions, Counter Inspector Prem Babu of the Mounted Police Line was quoted as saying by PTI.

In the Mounted Police, horses named Dara, Raka, Shaheen, Jackie, Gauri, Ahilya and Rankumbh are very special. Talking about the daily diet chart of a horse, every horse is given 1 kg gram, 100 grams jaggery, 100 grams linseed oil, 2 kg barley, 1 kg bran, 25 kg green grass and 30 grams salt. Three veterinary doctors have been appointed for the horses of the Mounted Police. The horses are massaged three times a day. Their hair is cut once a month and the horseshoes are changed once a month.

Special security measures are being implemented to ensure the safety and convenience of devotees attending the Maha Kumbh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Prayagraj on December 13, where he will perform the Maa Ganga ‘aarti’ and inaugurate several development projects.

Drones Deployed In Prayagraj To Ensure Security

As many as 20 high-tech drones have been deployed to monitor activities in the area. The advanced drones provide round-the-clock surveillance, capturing every detail of the massive gathering, an official statement said.

The drones are programmed to focus on even the smallest movements, ensuring a highly secure environment, it said. Every development work, from the Sangam to the Maha Kumbh, is being closely monitored. The highlight of these arrangements is the use of special drones, which provide real-time updates on every detail of all 25 sectors of the Maha Kumbh with just a single click.

This time, the Maha kumbh will boast a much larger fairground, expanding by an additional 800 hectares compared to the 2019 Kumbh.
