JD Vance’s remark ‘no one has tried to kill Kamala Harris’ is dangerous: White House | World News

The White House has reacted sharply against the comments of Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance about Vice President Kamala Harris not facing any assassination attempt.

The White House said that the comments by Ohio Senator JD Vance were dangerous and people might take such rhetoric seriously.

Vance’s Republican running mate and former President Donald Trump is up against Democratic nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris for the November elections.

Trump and Vance have been attacking Harris and the Democratic party since another apparent assassination bid on Trump was averted on Sunday, when Trump was playing golf in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Vance suggested in his speech that Democrats should “tone down” their criticism. He added, “The big difference between conservatives and liberals is that…no one has tried to kill Kamala Harris in the last couple of months and two people now have tried to kill Donald Trump in the last couple of months.”

Festive offer

Vance’s speech and the language used has the potential to put Vice President Harris’ life in danger, said White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

Pierre in a news conference said, “When you make comments like that, all it does is…opens an opportunity for people to listen to you and potentially take you very seriously, and so it’s dangerous to have that type of rhetoric out there.”

Pierre further recalled what President Joe Biden had said in July after the former President survived the first assassination attempt in a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, to cool down the political rhetoric.

“We should not be speaking that way. We should not be saying those things. We gotta tone it down,” she added.
