The Indian EV space is still in its nascent stage with few players but over the course of the next two months all that could change. Bigwigs like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Mahindra will join current EV players Tata and MG to launch new offerings in the compact SUV space. These three are aimed to woo the Indian EV buyer and to offer a tempting alternative to a conventional petrol powered SUV.

The first launch would be the BE 06 which would be a pure electric offering which means it will have a flat floor plus a radical design. Mahindra is banking on design, features and performance. The BE 06 would have battery packs ranging from 59kWh and 79kWh ones with power outputs touching 280bhp even while unique features would be offered like pattern sunroof lighting, twin screens and more including a Dolby Atmos audio system. Hyundai would also launch its Creta EV in January but it would be based on the Creta while Hyundai could be targeting aggressive pricing while based on the Creta helps here.

The Creta EV would have twin screens, ADAS, panoramic sunroof and more but would have key differences over the standard Creta with respect to the looks, features and design elements. The battery pack would be expected to be a 50kwh battery pack with near 500km range being offered. The other big launch would be the e Vitara which would come a bit later while you would be able to see it at the Bharat Mobility Show too in January where it would be revealed. It is based on a new electric platform which means a flat floor and more space while the battery pack will range from 49kWh and 61kWh with the global model even having a dual motor option. It seems there would be a lot more in terms of choices now for the Indian EV buyer within the 15-25 lakh space which could grow the EV segment.
