Mohini Dey Finally Addresses Speculation Linking Her To AR Rahman’s Separation: ‘I Am Not Interested…’


New Delhi: After AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu announced their separation, bassist Mohini Dey resorted to social media to dispel speculation that the high-profile split was related to her. Mohini also announced her divorce from Mark Hurtsuch, just hours after AR Rahman and Saira made their decision to end their 29-year marriage public. The two separations’ alleged timing became the subject of internet discussion. 

Mohini Dey Responds to Rumours

Mohini Dey took to Instagram to address the rumours and ask her fans to respect her privacy. She said that she had been bombarded with interview requests, but she politely declined each one. The bassist wrote, “I’ve been getting a humungous amount of requests for interviews and I know exactly what it’s about so, I have to respectfully turn each one down because I am not interested in fuelling into ABSOLUTE BS.”

She concluded her message, “I believe my energy is not worth spending on RUMOURS. Kindly, respect my privacy.”

Meanwhile, Rahman and Saira’s lawyer have already rejected any connections between the two splits.

Earlier, Ameen, who is AR Rahman’s son, also went to social media to criticise the “baseless” rumours that his parents’ split was caused by Mohini Dey. His statement reads: “My father is a legend, not just for his incredible contributions, but for the values, respect, and love he has earned over the years. It’s disheartening to see false and baseless rumors being spread. Let us all remember the importance of truth and respect when speaking about someone’s life and legacy. Please refrain from engaging in or spreading such misinformation. Let’s honor and preserve his dignity and the incredible impact he has had on all of us.”

Former couple AR Rahman and Saira Banu got married in Chennai in 1995 and have three children together: Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen.
