PM Modi Meets US President Biden At G20 Summit, Says ‘Always A Delight To Meet Him’


Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met US President Joe Biden at the G20 Summit and said it is always a delight to meet the American President.

“With @POTUS Joe Biden at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Always a delight to meet him,” PM Modi posted on X.

PM Modi, while speaking at the G-20 session, said that India has focused on inclusive development and given wings to the hopes and aspirations of the Global south.

“With respect to the theme of the first session, i would like to share with you India’s experiences and success stories. Over the last 10 years we have lifted 250 million people out of poverty. Over 800 million people are being given food grains free of cost. 550 million people are benefiting from the world’s biggest health insurance scheme,” the Prime Minister said at the G20 session.  

“Now, 60 million senior citizens, over the age of 70, will also be able to benefit from free health insurance. Maintaining our focus on Women led development and social inclusion, over 300 million women micro entrepreneurs have been linked to banks and given access to credit,” he added.

The Indian prime minister earlier today met Singapore counterpart Lawrence Wong, UN Secretary General António Guterres and Brazilian President Lula da Silva.

PM Modi arrived in Brazil after wrapping up a productive visit to Nigeria, where he held bilateral talks with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and interacted with the Indian community. 

The Indian community in the South American country welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Sanskrit chants after his arrival.
