A video of a young woman dancing to a song from the newly released film Pushpa 2 near Tirumala’s Alipiri Gate has ignited widespread controversy. The clip, initially uploaded on Instagram, quickly went viral but soon drew criticism for being filmed in the vicinity of the sacred site.
Devotees expressed outrage, arguing that such activities compromise the sanctity of Tirumala, a revered pilgrimage destination. Many took to social media to demand action against the woman, accusing her of disrespecting the holy site for online popularity. Amid the escalating backlash, the woman issued an apology through a social media video, expressing regret for her actions.
This is the second time such an incident has been reported in Tirupati.
In recent months, Tirupati witnessed similar controversies involving social media influencers and public figures. A Tamil Nadu-based influencer faced criticism for a prank video filmed in the darshan queue for Lord Venkateswara. Additionally, a photoshoot by YSR Congress leader Divvela Madhuri on Tirumala’s Mada Streets sparked outrage, and actress Priyanka Jain stirred controversy with a video mimicking animal sounds while climbing the Tirumala steps.
Such episodes have raised concerns about preserving the sanctity of holy places in the age of social media, prompting devotees and authorities to call for stricter regulations.
