Seers in Haridwar initiated a Mahayagya (grand ritual) on Thursday at the Bhairav Ghat of Shri Panchdashanam Juna Akhara, seeking the “destruction of Islamic Jihadis”. The ritual dedicated to ‘Mother Goddes Bagalamukhi’ is being headed by Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, the controversial priest of Dasna Temple and Mahamandaleshwar of Juna Akhara, who is frequently in the news for his inflammatory speeches against Muslims, reported news agency PTI. The ritual is set to conclude on December 21.

According to Narsinghanand, the complete annihilation of “Islamic Jihadis” responsible for killing Hindus in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India is essential to safeguard “humanity”. He invited “followers of Sanatan Dharam” to participate in the Mahayagya. The event was attended by Udita Tyagi, chief convenor of the World Religious Parliament, and Shri Mahant Mahakal Giri, a senior official of the Juna Akhara.
Yati Narsinghanand, who previously faced backlash for making derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad, said the Dharam Sansad (religious parliament) will take place from December 19 to 21 and will be open exclusively to Hindus. An estimated 1,000 participants are expected, with preparations already underway.

Narsinghanand stated that the objective of the Dharam Sansad is to protect Hinduism, warning that without preserving the faith, India’s future could mirror that of Bangladesh and Pakistan. The Haridwar police have tightened security and completed preparations for the event, given the controversial nature of the leader and his past statements.
Last month, Yati Narsinghanand was placed under house arrest ahead of a conference on the Waqf Board Amendment Bill organised by Islamic cleric Tauqeer Raza at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan. His house arrest was necessitated by the Dasna priest’s past when he allegedly spewed hatred against Muslims in several speeches.
