IND vs AUS 1st Test: India staged a remarkable comeback to assert their dominance over Australia in the 1st IND vs AUS Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) series at Perth’s Optus Stadium. After bowling Australia out for 104 and securing a lead of 46 runs, India openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul compiled an unbeaten 172-run partnership to end Day 2 and ensure that India were in complete control of the Perth Test, leading by 218 runs. Jaiswal finished the day on an unbeaten 90 and Rahul will continue from the score of 62* on Day 3.
After bowling India out for 150, Australians could not press home the advantage with the bat as they bundled out for even less, 104 runs, thanks to the 25-run partnership between tailenders Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood. Jasprit Bumrah, India’s stand-in captain, was the standout bowler for the visitors as he registered figures of 5-30 in 18 overs, proving to be the chief architect of Australia’s batting collapse in Perth.

Jaiswal-Rahul Opening Partnership Puts India In Driver’s Seat At Perth
India openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kl Rahul made full use of India’s 46-run lead as they did not panic during the early overs of the third innings and saw off the new ball. However, as the ball got softer, both the batters looked for scoring opportunities and successfully found the occasional boundaries. Starc, Hazlewood and captain Pat Cummins were relentless in their line and lengths but the Indian openers had the answers to all the questions they were asked with the ball.
Cummins & co. could not break the opening partnership and as a result, India posted 172 runs without the loss of any wicket on stumps on Day 2 at Perth, Jaiswal finished the day on 90* and Rahul on 62*.
