NSUI Wins President, Joint Secretary Posts; ABVP Secures VP, Secretary Roles In Tight Contest


New Delhi: The final results of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections have been announced. After nearly seven years, NSUI has secured the president’s post in the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections. NSUI’s Raunak Khatri won the president’s seat with 20,207 votes, while ABVP’s Rishabh Chaudhary received 18,864 votes.

For the vice president position, ABVP’s Bhanu Pratap emerged victorious with 20,166 votes, defeating NSUI’s Yash Nadal, who received 15,404 votes. The secretary post was claimed by ABVP’s Mritravrinda with 16,703 votes, surpassing NSUI’s Namrata Jev, who secured 15,236 votes. In the joint secretary race, NSUI’s Lokesh Choudhary won with 21,975 votes, defeating ABVP’s Aman Kapasiya, who received 15,249 votes.

Restrictions On Celebratory Events

Candidates contesting the DUSU elections had signed an affidavit pledging not to use drums, loudspeakers, crackers, or pamphlets for celebrations after the results. The affidavit also prohibits rallies and roadshows to mark victory.

21 Candidates Contested For Central Panel

The main contenders in the elections include the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the Congress-backed National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), and the Left alliance of the All India Students’ Association (AISA) and Students’ Federation of India (SFI).

The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) Elections 2024 were conducted on September 27, with 1.45 lakh eligible voters. However, this year recorded the lowest voter turnout in over a decade, according to reports.
