All We Imagine As Light winning accolades
The critically acclaimed ‘All We Imagine As Light’ has been gaining momentum on the global awards circuit. It was recently honoured as the Best International Film by the New York Film Critics Circle and the Gotham Awards. It also topped the list of the year’s best films in Sight and Sound magazine, alongside other notable titles like ‘Anora’, ‘La chimera’, ‘Dahomey’, and ‘Hard Truths’.
The movie also scripted history in May by becoming the first film from India to win the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival.
About All We Imagine As Light
Featuring Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Chhaya Kadam in pivotal roles, Payal Kapadia’s film delves into themes of love, yearning, and solitude against the vibrant backdrop of Mumbai. The story revolves around three women: Prabha and Anu, two Malayali nurses, and their close friend Parvati.
Prabha’s world is unsettled when she receives an unexpected rice cooker from her husband living in Germany. Meanwhile, Anu faces challenges in finding a secluded space in the bustling city to spend time with her boyfriend. Parvati, a widow and Prabha’s best friend, grapples with the threat of being evicted from her home by property developers.
Despite its international acclaim, the film was not chosen to represent India at the Oscars. The selection committee opted for Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies.
The Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast live in India on Lionsgate Play on January 6, starting at 6:30 AM IST.
